TURKEY IS A PRODUCTION & DESIGN BASE FOR FURNITURE

Supported by MOSDER (Association of Turkish Furniture Manufacturers) IMOB 2008 4th Istanbul Furniture Fair is scheduled to be held at Istanbul CNR EXPO Center between 30 January - 03 February, 2008. In bringing together the sector’s top brands, Eurasia’s biggest furniture fair will be creating a commercial environment determined by the new targets of the sector.

Visitors and exhibitors will be able to check out the sector’s latest developments and products at IMOB 2008, which will be featuring household furniture, interior design products, single- double- and triple seat comfort groups; armchairs, beds and a wide range of other products. The sector’s leading Furniture Department Stores, Chain Stores, Wholesalers, Distributors, Exporters, Importers, Hosted Buyer Commissions, Vendors, Architects, Interior Designers, Decorators, Industrial Designers and Furniture Subcontracting Manufacturers are expected to visit IMOB 2008, the ideal platform from which to establish new business connections.

Targets for the year 2008 will be revealed at this fair that brings together the sector’s professionals. Sector officials announced at IMOB 2007 that the target for the year was $1 billion, stating that the export targets would continue to rise together with this fair. Along with the technological innovations and changes carried out in the field of design, Turkey shall be making a major contribution towards shaping the future with fair events such as competitions and seminars, in order to show how fair it has come in the sector. 

While the sector’s leading firms and brand names such as Istikbal, Cilek Mobilya, Seray, Alfemo, Ipek Mobilya, Yatas, Dogtas, Fatih Kiral, Mete Bronz, Mirage and Adnan Serbest participated in IMOB 2007 Fair, this year’s event will be bringing together sector leaders once again in 2008. This edition shall feature new products of participating firms from Germany, Canada, Italy, Holland, Malaysia, India and Syria.

Prof. Dante Donegani and Prof. Giovanni Lauda provided clues concerning Italian design at seminars held at the IMOB 2007 Fair, conveying information regarding changes created in the sector’s development and design. The event organized by top-level authorities at Domus Academy attracted attention for their research into the topic of Italian design.  “We spend most of our time conducting research” said Donegani and Lauda, adding that they keep innovative elements in the forefront of Italian products.

Of the total 66,712 visitors that passed through the turnstiles at IMOB 2007, 62,225 were from Turkey while 4,487 were from abroad.
